Lactation Biscuits Recipe
Here’s a simple lactation biscuit recipe packed with ingredients that are thought to support milk supply, such as oats, flaxseeds, and brewers yeast. Evidence with milk supply is always taken with a grain of salt, as every mother has differing breast tissue and hormone levels.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup wheat flour, or rye, or spelt flour
- 1 cup almond flour (must be almond or coconut)
- 1 cup ghee
- 3/4 cup psyllium husk
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (or any preferred sweetener)
- 2 tbsp brewers yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup water or milk, maybe more to get the rumball consistency
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- A pinch of salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional but recommended)
- 1 tbsp lecithin grains (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- optional to also include a little chia seeds or pumpkin seeds for more crunch.
Method:
- preheat oven to 180 degrees
- mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl
- add ghee and mix a little to incorporate somewhat, before adding milk/ water
- mix completely before testing consistency, they should be like rumballs and hold shape. Add a little more milk if needed.
- roll out roughly 1 tbsp mixture into ball and space on the baking sheet
- once spaced, squash down flat with your finger or a spoon (the won't really rise so you can get them close)
- bake for 13-15 minutes (depending if you want more crunch or not)
- let cool completely before storing
